{"id":1250,"date":"2015-01-10T17:51:22","date_gmt":"2015-01-11T00:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/natureaventure.ca\/?page_id=1250"},"modified":"2024-12-01T08:54:49","modified_gmt":"2024-12-01T15:54:49","slug":"hiking-gaspesie-iat","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/natureaventure.ca\/en\/hiking-gaspesie-iat\/","title":{"rendered":"HIKING THE PASSAGEWAY OF NATURE&#8230; HIKING &amp; BACKPACKING ON THE INTERNATIONAL APPALACHIAN TRAIL IN GASPESIE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE INTERNATIONAL APPALACHIAN TRAIL (IAT-Quebec)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The International Appalachian Trail in Quebec covers more than 650 km of trails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It starts in <em>the town of Matapedia<\/em>, then heads towards <em>The Valley<\/em> to <em>Amqui<\/em> before reaching the <em>Matane<\/em> wildlife reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It crosses the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sepaq.com\/pq\/gas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parc de la Gasp\u00e9sie<\/a>&nbsp;including the Albert and Jacques-Cartier mountains, then descends towards Mont-Saint-Pierre where it follows the sea, from village to village, to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pc.gc.ca\/en\/pn-np\/qc\/forillon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forillon National Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trail is suitable for routes of varying duration (from 1 day up to 40 days) and difficulty (slight to steep drop).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Ranging from a rural setting in an agricultural setting to the steep cliffs of Forillon which overlook the sea, passing by the summits of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sepaq.com\/rf\/chc\/index.dot?language_id=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chic-Choc<\/a>&nbsp;set of the McGerrigle, the trail offers several possibilities for hiking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the season, some sections can be covered from mid-May, but overall the trail is accessible from mid-June to the end of October. Services for hikers and members are offered along the trail in collaboration with our partners (transportation, accommodation, guide, supplies, information, topographic maps, books, <em>Quartz cabin<\/em> is more difficult for resupplying large equipment since the nearest access is a 4km walk to the cabin.
